John Chow 

Mr. Chow is a native San Franciscan who has lived in San Francisco his entire life. He was born in Chinatown’s Chinese Hospital and graduated from Lowell High School. He brings innovative problem-solving skills, sound judgment, strong leadership, and a seasoned ability to advocate to the firm.

Mr. Chow obtained his Bachelor’s degree in Social Welfare from the University of California at Berkeley. While studying at UC Berkeley, Mr. Chow interned at the San Francisco District Attorney’s office, tutored other UC Berkeley students in statistics, coached a championship-winning high school summer basketball team, and managed a 32-unit apartment near campus while living on-site with other UC Berkeley students.
 
Thereafter, Mr. Chow attended the University of California College of the Law, San Francisco (fka University of California, Hastings College of the Law), earning a Juris Doctorate degree, with a Concentration in International Law. While in law school, he studied at the East China University of Political Science and Law in Shanghai, China, and at Temple University Japan in Tokyo, Japan. He earned Certificates in Chinese Law and Japanese Law from these two respective law schools. He also interned for Judge Julie Tang and Commissioner Richard E. Best, both at the San Francisco Superior Court.

Prior to co-founding CCD Law Group, P.C., Mr. Chow practiced law at several prominent law firms in San Francisco, including a general practice firm with over 100 attorneys in multiple locations throughout the country, and a Chinese International firm that represented publicly traded companies in China and Taiwan. He is experienced in all phases of litigation, including case strategy, discovery, depositions, motion practice, experts, mediation, and arbitration. He has personally taken over 100 depositions. Mr. Chow’s many successful results include obtaining favorable judgments at trial which enabled his clients to recover their own attorney's fees from the other side. He has also gotten the other side to voluntary dismiss his clients on the eve of trial through aggressive litigation and careful strategic planning.

Mr. Chow is admitted to practice law in California and before the Northern and Central Federal District Courts of California. He previously served on the Board of the Chinatown Community Children’s Center, which is one of the oldest existing non-profit early education centers in San Francisco. Mr. Chow has also served on the Board of Family and Child Empowerment Services - San Francisco, which provides critical assistance to low-income families citywide in early childhood development, workforce training, and family support services.

Mr. Chow is fluent in Cantonese, proficient in Mandarin, conversational in Japanese, and conversational in Spanish. He has traveled to over 50 different countries and appreciates learning about other cultures and languages. He enjoys spending quality time with his family and coaching youth basketball. He also enjoys taking on physical challenges, to balance the mental challenges he faces from his legal practice. He and his martial arts team proudly performed Jeet Kune Do before thousands of fans at the San Francisco Giants' Oracle Park during the Bruce Lee tribute night in 2018. He finished an Olympic Triathlon in 2015, a Full Marathon in 2019, and a Century Ride consisting of biking over 100 miles in 2020. He has completed several Half Marathons, Tough Mudder and Spartan Beast obstacle courses, most recently in 2023. He is currently training for his next physical challenge.
