John Chow
Mr. Chow is a proud San Francisco native, born at Chinatown’s Chinese Hospital and a graduate of Lowell High School. Known for his innovative problem-solving, sound judgment, strong leadership, and effective advocacy, he is an invaluable asset to our firm.
Mr. Chow earned his Bachelor’s degree in Social Welfare from UC Berkeley. During his time at UC Berkeley, he also interned at the San Francisco District Attorney’s office, tutored peers in statistics, coached a high school summer basketball team that won their division championship, and managed a 32-unit apartment complex while living on-site with fellow students.
Continuing his education at UC College of the Law, San Francisco (formerly UC Hastings College of the Law), Mr. Chow earned his Juris Doctor with a focus on International Law. He expanded his legal education internationally by studying aboard at East China University of Political Science and Law in Shanghai and Temple University Japan in Tokyo, earning Certificates in Chinese Law and Japanese Law. Additionally, he gained insightful courtroom experience while interning for Judge Julie Tang and Commissioner Richard E. Best at the San Francisco Superior Court.
Before co-founding CCD Law Group, P.C., Mr. Chow honed his skills at several prestigious San Francisco law firms. His experience spans a large general practice firm with over 100 attorneys nationwide as well as a Chinese international firm representing publicly traded companies in China and Taiwan. Mr. Chow is proficient in all facets of litigation, from case strategy and discovery to depositions and arbitration. He has a proven track record of securing favorable court judgments and achieving strategic dismissals.
Mr. Chow is licensed to practice law in California and before the Northern and Central Federal District Courts of California. He has served on the Board of the Chinatown Community Children’s Center, one of San Francisco’s oldest non-profit early education centers, and on the Board of Family and Child Empowerment Services - San Francisco, which supports low-income families with early childhood development, job training, and family support.
Fluent in Cantonese, proficient in Mandarin, and conversational in Japanese and Spanish, Mr. Chow has a passion for learning about different cultures and languages. He has traveled to over 50 countries and enjoys spending time with his family, cooking, and playing pool.
To balance the mental demands of his legal work, Mr. Chow embraces physical challenges. Notable achievements include performing Jeet Kune Do at the San Francisco Giants' Oracle Park during the Bruce Lee tribute night in 2018, completing an Olympic Triathlon in 2015, a Full Marathon in 2019, and a 100-mile bike ride in 2020. He has also tackled numerous Half Marathons, Tough Mudder, and Spartan Beast obstacle courses. Most recently, he hiked to the top of Peru’s Rainbow Mountain in 2024. He is currently training for his next physical challenge.
